エリーゼて誰だったのか、研究者の中では2つの説が有力だそうです。
「テレーゼ（Therese）のために」という曲名だったが、ベートーヴェンが悪筆だったため「エリーゼ（Elise）」となったという説と、ベートーヴェンのライバル作曲家であったフンメルと後に結婚したソプラノ歌手エリーザベト(Elisabeth Roeckel)のために作曲したいう説があるそうです。

As for Elise, there are two candidates.
1. Therese Malfatti
Beethoven’s handwriting was so messy, the discoverer of the piece, Ludwig Nohl may have transcribed the title incorrectly and the original work may have been named "Für Therese”
2. Elisabeth Röckel
A soprano singer who married Beethoven’s rival Johann Nepomuk Hummel.
